Apple Lossless Audio Codec released as Open Source →
The Apple Lossless Audio Codec (ALAC) is an audio codec developed by Apple and supported on iPhone, iPad, most iPods, Mac and iTunes. ALAC is a data compression method which reduces the size of audio files with no loss of information. A decoded ALAC stream is bit-for-bit identical to the original uncompressed audio file.

Check out Autoblog’s first-drive review of the 2012 Subaru Impreza. Good to see the “additional lightness” and refreshed styling but the CVT gearbox and electric power steering are disappointments to driving enthusiasts. That said, Impreza is one of the best compact cars on the market.

Nancy Atkinson: Annually, Americans spend about $88.8 billion on tobacco products and another $97 billion on alcohol. $313 billion is spent each year in America for treatment of tobacco and alcohol related medical problems.
